Supervised visitation at the Kern Superior Court

In Kern County, custody and visitation (parenting time) cases go to the Superior Court of California, County of Kern (Family Law Division; Family Court Services).

How supervised visitation works here

A judge orders supervised visitation in a court order. Statewide form FL-341(A) is the order used after a hearing about supervised visitation or supervised exchanges.
California describes two kinds of supervisors. Professional providers have special training and charge a fee. Nonprofessional providers are usually a friend or family member.
Kern Family Court Services offers confidential mediation that does not make recommendations to the judge.
Families do the mediation orientation through the statewide Families Change site, as directed by the court.
The court lists professional providers and says they identified themselves as providers. The court does not endorse, evaluate or monitor them.
Nonprofessional supervisors must complete form FL-324(NP) and review the judge's order before supervising, according to the court.
Providers must follow California Family Code 3200.5 and Standard 5.20 of the Standards of Judicial Administration. Professional providers need 24 hours of training under the standard.
