Supervised visitation at the Santa Clara Superior Court

In Santa Clara County, custody and visitation (parenting time) cases go to the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara (Family Division; Family Court Services).

How supervised visitation works here

A judge orders supervised visitation in a court order. Statewide form FL-341(A) is the order used after a hearing about supervised visitation or supervised exchanges.
California describes two kinds of supervisors. Professional providers have special training and charge a fee. Nonprofessional providers are usually a friend or family member.
Parents must watch a Parent Orientation video before scheduling custody mediation. Mediation is free, with a $100 fee for no shows or cancellations within 48 hours.
The court's Family Court Services office keeps provider lists for supervised visitation, parenting classes and other court ordered programs.
Providers on the county list sign declarations saying they follow Family Code 3200.5 and Standard 5.20. The court says it does not monitor or endorse them, so parents should interview providers.
Providers must follow California Family Code 3200.5 and Standard 5.20 of the Standards of Judicial Administration. Professional providers need 24 hours of training under the standard.
