Supervised visitation at the Miami-Dade Family Court
In Miami-Dade County, parental responsibility, parenting plans and time-sharing cases go to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida (Family Division).
How supervised visitation works here
- Most Miami-Dade family cases are heard at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center downtown, and some at branch justice centers.
- Parents with minor children must attend a four-hour parenting class. The Self-Help Program lists approved providers.
- The court's Family Court Services unit offers free supervised visits and monitored exchanges, but only after a judge or magistrate refers you.
- After a referral order, parents must contact Family Court Services within five working days.
