How supervised visitation works here
- Oklahoma law lets a judge order visitation supervised by another person or agency when domestic violence or stalking has happened and safety steps are needed.
- Under the same statute, the judge may order the parent who committed the abuse to pay a fee to help cover supervised visits or child exchanges.
- The judge may also order that exchanges of the child happen through a third party or in a protected setting.
- In many cases with minor children, the judge can require parents to complete a parenting education program before final custody orders, and this can be waived for good cause such as domestic violence.
