How supervised visitation works here

Oregon judges decide custody using the best interests of the child, and the statute lists domestic abuse as a factor (ORS 107.137).
When a parent who committed abuse is given parenting time, the court can order that the time be supervised by another person or agency, and can require exchanges at a protected location (ORS 107.718).
When custody or parenting time is contested, the parties must take part in mediation through Clackamas County Resolution Services or another allowed dispute resolution option.
Clackamas mediators screen for domestic violence and can end mediation if safety is a concern, and they do not make custody recommendations.
