How supervised visitation works here

Oregon judges decide custody using the best interests of the child, and the statute lists domestic abuse as a factor (ORS 107.137).
When a parent who committed abuse is given parenting time, the court can order that the time be supervised by another person or agency, and can require exchanges at a protected location (ORS 107.718).
Deschutes County requires mediation on custody and parenting time under Supplementary Local Rule 12.015, and a judge orders the parties to contact a mediator.
Parties in custody cases must complete a parenting seminar, and parents cannot attend the same class.
