How supervised visitation works here

Oregon judges decide custody using the best interests of the child, and the statute lists domestic abuse as a factor (ORS 107.137).
When a parent who committed abuse is given parenting time, the court can order that the time be supervised by another person or agency, and can require exchanges at a protected location (ORS 107.718).
Custody filings in Marion County require a parenting plan and a COPE seminar attendance certificate.
Court appointed mediators offer the first eight hours at no cost, and Oregon says mediation can be changed or waived when it is unsafe because of violence or threats.
