Supervised visitation at the Washington Circuit Court

In Washington County, Custody and parenting time. Oregon courts use a parenting plan for how parents share time. cases go to the Washington County Circuit Court (Domestic Relations Department).

How supervised visitation works here

Oregon judges decide custody using the best interests of the child, and the statute lists domestic abuse as a factor (ORS 107.137).
When a parent who committed abuse is given parenting time, the court can order that the time be supervised by another person or agency, and can require exchanges at a protected location (ORS 107.718).
Parents in custody or parenting time cases with children under 17 must take part in a family law education program, and register with Conciliation Services for court ordered mediation.
The Oregon Judicial Department says a judge may order supervised parenting time when there is a need but professional supervisors are not available or affordable, and a non-professional supervisor may be ordered. Its page does not say who pays.
